“The quarries that were located in Derry Township, there were four of them, over their history, from the 1860’s through the later 1920’s, produced over four millioncubic yards of stone that was extracted,” Nikki Soliday, Executive Director of the Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society, said on Good Day PA. For a period of time, Derry Township was a major supplier of Brownstone through the Hummelstown Brownstone Company. There is a good chance that much of the Brownstone came from Dauphin County.
